For Referring Physicians:
I look forward to working with you to develop programs and protocols to best serve you and your patients. Physical therapy can address prevention as well as rehabilitation, specifically targeting strength and soft tissue health of the pelvic floor muscles.
What should I expect on my first visit?
On your initial visit, a detailed history is taken and a thorough evaluation of the pelvic floor muscle strength and function is performed in a comfortable setting. Treatments will most often consist of an internal pelvic floor muscle exam for accurate assessment and improved outcomes. Women are trained in behavioral modification and an individualized pelvic floor muscle strengthening program as indicated. Manual therapy may be included to reduce soft tissue adhesions or facilitate muscle contraction. On each subsequent visit, you will be reassessed and appropriately progressed.
Disclaimer: Family Physical Therapy seeks to educate the community on musculoskeletal causes of pelvic pain. Specific medical advice and/or answers to your personal health questions will require a full examination by a physical therapist. This website is not intended to be a substitute for a medical evaluation, but rather as an educational resource.
